paid in the present case was one required mainly in connec-

tion with a transaction which was undertaken by the Colony

in Imperial as much as in Colonial interests and was pro-

posed to this Goverment by that of His Majesty.

I trust that in these circumstances Your

Lordship will see fit to arrange for a refund to the Colony

of the duty that has been paid.
